Consumer Reports Points to Opportunity to Improve Patient Communications

This article describes Consumer Reports (CR) publication of hospital ratings in its August issue. The most interesting aspect of CR’s ratings of almost 1,200 hospitals is that all organizations consistently struggled with the patient communication metric. Forward-thinking hospitals will likely deploy technology to assist patients with better understanding their procedures, what they must do to prepare for surgery and how to care for themselves when discharged.
