Webinar Recording (.mp4 format)

CMS introduced a new requirement on March 8 – all Medicare beneficiaries, who receive observation services as an outpatient for more than 24 hours, must be supplied a Medicare Observation Outpatient Notice (MOON). The MOON must be explained to patients and a patient signature on the MOON must be collected.

This webinar reviews:

  • Background and circumstances that led to the new requirement
  • Overview of the MOON form and its instructions
  • Suggestions for how and when the notice should be provided to patients
  • Discussion of potential issues and guidance for the handling of special cases
